A Valuable Partnership
In addition to Madonna University’s accredited curriculum and dedicated faculty, the ABSN program’s our academic practice partnership with St. John Providence will provide you with an immersive, in-hospital experience. During the 16-month accelerated nursing program, you will receive hands-on, real-world training led by the Detroit area’s top healthcare teams.
A member of Ascension Health, the largest Catholic healthcare system in the country, St. John Providence operates four hospitals and more than 125 medical facilities across the state of Michigan. And, like Madonna University, St. John Providence is a nonprofit, Catholic-based entity that promotes holistic care and community service.
The Benefit of an Academic Practice Partnership
Most nursing programs have students jump from healthcare provider to healthcare provider for clinical placements. Madonna University’s academic practice partnership allows our ABSN students a truly immersive experience with one partner. That means that not only will you gain diverse real-world experience, you’ll also gain the opportunity to build relationships and network for your future. It’s like a 16-month interview process.
Your diverse clinical placements at St. John Providence will have you work with patients in a variety of areas.
- Emergency nursing
- Medical-surgical nursing
- Mental health
Why Choose Nursing in Metro Detroit?
Metro Detroit’s healthcare sector is a prime destination for registered nurses because of the rapidly aging baby boomer population and retirement wave of registered nurses. In fact, Michigan’s Bureau of Labor Market Information & Strategic Initiatives ranks registered nurses among the 50 most in-demand jobs in the state through 2018.
Metro Detroit is also home to a robust, innovative healthcare industry. According to the Detroit Regional Chamber, more than half of the healthcare-related businesses in Michigan are located within the southeast region.
Plus, it’s a great place to put your BSN to use because most of the area’s hospitals are locally, regionally, and nationally ranked, including St. John Providence.
