ABSN Clinical Rotations at Local Healthcare Facilities
Madonna University’s clinical placements with one of our academic practice partners, St. John Providence provide ABSN students a unique edge in their nursing education. As a leading faith-based healthcare system in Michigan, St. John Providence allows our accelerated nursing students to gain real-world clinical experience in a world-class environment.
ABSN students will learn first-hand what it takes to be an exceptional nurse by working with the best nursing professionals in the state. Over the span of the ABSN program’s 16 months, you will complete your accelerated nursing clinicals through St. John Providence, working with patients in a variety of specialties.
- Adult and Older Adult Health
- Maternity and Pediatrics
- Acute Care
- Mental and Behavioral Health
Your first clinical experience, Holistic Mental Health Nursing Care, will begin toward the end of the first semester. Other clinical placements you will experience throughout the ABSN program are medical surgical, health in the community, and population.
Your accelerated nursing clinicals at St. John Providence will require you to do a lot more than observe. You will actually be putting much of the curriculum you have completed online and in labs into real-world practice.
St. John Providence, like Madonna University, is a Catholic-based entity that believes in educating nursing students in holistic care. As you perform your clinical rotations, you will experience firsthand the spirit of caring as nursing faculty helps you develop:
- Community-based advocacy for population health.
- Genuine caring behavior.
- Communication skills.
- Performance of safe therapeutic interventions.
- Ethical perspectives.
Learning these essential nursing skills and successfully applying them during clinicals at St. John Providence is an important step toward graduation and your future as a registered nurse. Since students spend so much time completing clinical rotations through St. John Providence and other clinical partners, it’s important to think about this experience as a 16-month job interview. That’s because you will work with the same staff over the course of the program so you can build relationships and network for your post-graduation nursing future.
