Message from the Dean

Welcome, and thank you for your interest in Madonna University’s Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing (ABSN) program.

This year, we celebrate 60 years of nursing education excellence!   The College of Nursing and Health is proud to have been offering great nursing programs steeped in the Catholic and Franciscan traditions of academic excellence and respect for the dignity and value of all people.

Over the past 60 years, a lot has changed within the healthcare field, and the College of Nursing and Health has changed along with it, incorporating new practices and technologies. However, what hasn’t changed is our devotion to producing registered nurses who will make the world a better place.

The launch of our hybrid Accelerated BSN program in 2018 to help address the growing shortage of nurses here in Michigan and across the United States reflects our continuing commitment to educating the next generation of nurses. Created for students who already have college experience, our ABSN program makes it possible to earn a quality, accredited nursing education in as few as 16 months through a combination of online coursework, onsite hands-on skills and simulation labs, and clinical practice with our academic partner, Ascension Michigan.

It’s true that nursing school won’t be easy, but I’m confident that if you have the willingness to put in the hard work and the desire to change lives, you will succeed. And remember, you’re never in this alone. Each and every one of us in the College of Nursing and Health is here to support you in every step of the way.

Thank you for considering Madonna University’s ABSN program, and I wish you the very best. We look forward to sharing in your nursing journey.

Dr. Deborah Dunn
Provost and Interim Dean, Madonna University College of Nursing and Health
